The Life & Times of Handcraft Unlimited

My wife is a crafter and I have always enjoyed coordinating events. Eventually, the two came together and, eighteen years ago, Handcraft Unlimited was born. We specialize in producing craft shows, the very first of which was held in Intercourse, Pennsylvania – the heart of Pennsylvania Amish territory.

We are a diversified company, producing various types of shows. Our expansive schedule takes us to cities in several states including Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, Delaware, Ohio and Virginia. And we have recently acquired the well-known Country Peddler Craft Shows & Market Pro Craft Show in Timonium, Maryland to enhance our existing repertoire of shows. Recreation Unlimited, our sister company which is managed by my son, has produced the Greater Golf Show Series, the Bridal Extravaganza series of shows, computer shows, toy shows, RV & Outdoorsman shows, car shows, Home & Garden shows, Snowmobile and ATV shows, celebrity appearances, concerts, festivals and The Lebanon Bologna Fest. Many of the concerts and festivals were produced in conjunction with leading radio stations, which featured top-name recording artists and drew over 50,000 attendees.

We are a complete, full service promoter. Our responsibilities involve everything from start to finish: facility rental, devising show blueprints, exhibitor sale and placement, set-up and tear-down of each show. We own all of the necessary show equipment, including color-coordinated pipe and drape, tables, chairs, table covers, portable ticket booths, area carpeting, nets, staging, spotlights, and sound system. Our huge, home-based warehouse provides storage for all of our equipment, as well as the large rigs we travel with. Two complete show units, along with our experienced set-up crews, allow us to operate shows in separate states simultaneously. We operate our own in-house advertising agency, print shop, digital and vinyl sign production, embroidery, graphic design, web site, bulk mailing and shipping facility. We also provide our own credit card service to customers and exhibitors at each of the shows. During our prime show season, we employee as many as six full-time and 20 part-time people who help make everything run as smoothly as possible.

Handcraft Unlimited has been touted as a first class, quality promotions company by vendors, facility coordinators, and customers alike. This is an accomplishment we are quite proud of. Each show is treated as its own spectacular event. Great strides are taken to ensure that every show is meticulously planned, marketing plans are carefully researched, and extensive, multi-media advertising campaigns are placed. All of these pieces come together to create a truly successful event!

Though we produce a variety of other shows, we most enjoy the involvement with people who still take pleasure in crafting. During 19-years of promoting shows, I have never missed being at the show myself – I believe that someone who does not have a vested interest in the company can never provide the same hands-on attention. Even as we continue to grow, you will always find my son or myself on location. I look forward to continuing to expand our business, and adding other shows in our schedule that offer more variety and more choices for more people.
